Meaning Behind Maori Patterns

The pattern used for the merch design is Maori Koru pattern. The Koru pattern symbolises growth, new life, and creation. The outer coil represents continuous movement and cycle of life, while the inner part represents returning to the point of origin.

It is also a symbol of peace. The Good Morning campaign aims for these values as well. We want to create a peaceful, and inclusive community among students, and to make them happier, more confident, by providing them with hope for the future no matter their past. We hope to remind them that growth - spiritually, mentally and physically is possible no matter their past experiences, and it is their past experiences that makes them unique and contributes to their future growth, whether these experiences are positive or negative.

The two patterns are connected to each other representing unity, and support between people.

The design is used on the campaign’s merch, on the sleeve, because the sleeve is where the arm is, it represents the ongoing action of creating inclusive community and belonging.
